Parenting groups in Hart & Rushmoor

Posted by nashandr on April 1, 2010 at 8:53 AM Comments comments (0)

Triple P Group (for parents of primary school aged children) &

Triple P Teen Group (for parents of children from 11 – 16 years)

These are open to any parent through self referral and by referral form other agencies. These 8 session parenting groups support parents to make lasting changes in their parenting skills, and impact on their child’s behaviour. This is a flexible programme and some of the sessions are held in groups (session 1 – 4 and session 8), the remaining sessions are one to one (in person or by telephone) with the facilitator so that parents have a real opportunity to gain support from other parents and to tailor the strategies to their own particular family life. Parents have a reference book/workbook provided which is theirs to keep after the course and DVD materials are used throughout.

Parents or referrers who wish to find out more about a specific course running should contact the named Triple P programme facilitator direct. Places are generally offered on a first come first served basis. It is expected that parents or referrers will make contact with the facilitator BEFORE the programme starts. There is no charge for the parenting programme, although there may be a charge for crèche facilities if they are offered.

Please do not assume – that because a course is listed here that the course is running on the given dates at the given times or that there is an automatic place for an interested parent. Sometimes preference will be given to parents whose child attends a school in the cluster – you must contact the facilitator / organisation direct and have a conversation.

Parents & Carers needed for LOCAL steering group!

Posted by nashandr on October 26, 2009 at 8:53 AM Comments comments (0)

Parents and Carers in the North and East of Hampshire are needed to join this steering group!

Aiming High for Disabled Children (AHDC) is a government initiated transformation programme to improve and expand the services local authorities provide to disabled children and their families and/or carers.

Hampshire County Council has contracted Barnardo's and The Rose Road Association to provide a service which supports parents and carers by developing information and participation networks.

Barnardo's will be covering the South East (Fareham, Gosport and Havant) and the North & East (Basingstoke & Deane, Hart District, East Hampshire and Rushmoor) areas of Hampshire.

The Rose Road Association is covering the Western (New Forest, Test Valley, Eastleigh and Winchester) area of Hampshire.

The aim of the Information and Participation Service, ParentVoice, is to create, develop and implement a new service for families of disabled children in North, East and South East Hampshire which improves their information and participation in shaping services in their area.

The key objectives of the service include:

  • To establish a single point of contact for information and advice.
  • To plan a model of activities, events and training that enables families to participate and influence service delivery.
  • To link with the other services within Hampshire.
  • To develop active parent involvement in the management committee of the programme and to develop a business plan for the programme.
  • To report to a cross-agency steering group.

The ParentVoice website is www.ParentVoice.info

The ParentVoice office for North East Hants will be in Elmwood Parade, Basingstoke but they will run outreach projects in Hart & Rushmoor!

They need our views on what is needed and where and how to organise it.

If you want to join, e-mail sallyann.whitehouse@barnardos.org.uk
